Sen. Elizabeth Warren is on the campaign trail in Iowa for the first time.
The Massachusetts Democrat will campaign for Senate candidate Bruce Braley on Sunday in Iowa City and Des Moines, according to MSNBC.
“From issues like protecting Social Security and an affordable college education to supporting middle class tax relief and an increase to the minimum wage, Warren will contrast Braley’s commitment to supporting all Iowa families with state Sen. Joni Ernst’s special interest agenda that benefits the wealthy few,” the Braley campaign said in a press release.
Braley’s Republican opponent, Joni Ernst, is up by just 1.2 points, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Although some liberals want Warren to run for president in 2016, she has repeatedly said she will not. That was one reason she had not yet campaigned in Iowa or New Hampshire, despite similar pushes for Democratic candidates in other states.
Warren is a distant third in polls of the Democratic presidential field, after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden.
