A bird flew onto Bernie Sanders’ lectern during a rally Friday and sent his Portland, Ore., crowd into a tizzy.
The bird first landed beside Sanders, then surprised everyone by winging it up to the Vermont senator himself.
Sanders’ campaign quickly got in on the action, jumping on Twitter with a #BirdieSanders hashtag.

After the bird flew off, Sanders opined about its meaning.
“I think there may be some symbolism here. I know it doesn’t look like it, but that bird is really a dove asking us for world peace. No more wars!” he said.
