Megyn Kelly: ‘We’re losing’ in Iraq

By all accounts, we’re losing, general. We’re losing,” said an angry Megyn Kelly Tuesday night, as retired Army Gen. Jack Keane told her it is still possible to win in Iraq.

The Washington Post editorial board wrote President Obama needs to admit that the fall of Ramadi in Iraq Sunday shows he has “no strategy” against the Islamic State, Kelly recounted.

“Is there any turning that around, under this president, the way he sees this conflict?” she exasperatedly asked.

“We’re talking about tough-minded, calm and imaginative leadership to think through what this problem is and accept the risk that goes with winning wars,” replied Keane. “War is fundamentally a test of will.”

“We can put together a strategy to deal with this situation — we have talked about it for nine months” he said.

“We got to see reality as the way it is,” said Keane. “This is a disturbing and frightening echo to what we had in 2006 … when we were failing in Iraq, and government officials and the military generals were defending the strategy despite the evidence that it was failing.” “The problem with that is, you’re not going to fix it as long as you’re defending it,” said Keane.

“Iraq, despite what we have seen in Ramadi, … is not lost yet,” said Keane.
