Rubio accuses Obama of betraying Israel

Marco Rubio accused President Obama of betraying Israel in the Republican debate Saturday night, in an usually cutting remark even for the charged atmosphere of the debate stage.

“Barack Obama views us this arrogant global power that needed to be cut down to size. This is a president that views this country as a country that’s been too powerful that we create problems around the world,” the Florida senator said in response to a question about foreign policy.

“It’s one of the reasons he has betrayed Israel,” Rubio added, “because he believes if we create separation from Israel, it will help our relations in the Islamic world.”

The presidential hopeful went on to say that the Obama administration has offered “accommodations” to North Korea, which, he said, “should be back on the list of terrorist nations.”

Throughout the early parts of the debate, Rubio focused on strident criticism of Obama’s record and beliefs, rather than engage in detailed back-and-forth with his rivals.
