Obama takes bully pulpit at conference

“I have to say, with big ears and the name that I have, I wasn’t immune. I didn’t emerge unscathed,” said President Obama during his White House Conference on Bullying Prevention on Thursday. During the conference, which included 150 students, parents, policymakers, educators and advocates, the president focused on the newest efforts of Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to monitor harassing behavior in the nation’s schools. Some of the efforts include new tools on Facebook to discourage online harassment, a MTV campaign geared at stopping bullying and the launch of a new resource website, StopBullying.Org.
