Perry: Planned Parenthood acts ‘outside the bounds of humanity’

Planned Parenthood is acting “outside the bounds of humanity” and “our criminal laws,” said Republican presidential candidate and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry Sunday.

Reacting to the undercover videos which reveal high-level Planned Parenthood executives negotiating prices for fetal organs, Perry said: “I think anyone who’s seen the videos of the Planned Parenthood is offended, you know, regardless of where they may be on the issue of choice or protecting life.”

Perry called the real issue how some abortion groups use out-of-the-norm procedures and alter the abortion in order to better harvest organs, something that the undercover videos show Planned Parenthood doctors discussing how to do without getting caught. Perry added that he defunded Planned Parenthood while he was governor of Texas.

Perry was relegated to the “happy hour debate” on Thursday, but he told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” that he believes the voters are in their “celebrity phase” and compared current support for Donald Trump with voters’ brief flirtations with former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani or actor Fred Thompson in the 2008 Republican presidential primary.

“I think this is a very fluid process,” Perry said. “You know, debates are important, but there is nothing that’s more important than sitting in a town hall meeting or in a roping arena, as I was last night, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, talking to the people. They’re the ones that are going to show up for the caucus and then the primaries in New Hampshire and South Carolina. That’s where you’d better be spending a lot of your time.”
