Top Trump aide: Romney ‘jealous’

Donald Trump Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort said Sunday that former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has a case of sour grapes.

On ABC’s “This Week,” Manafort said that Romney is continuing to publicly speak out against his party’s new nominee because he’s “jealous” that Trump is the “first businessman” to lead the GOP.

“Romney had a chance to win it, he lost it,” said Manafort. “He sees that Donald Trump has won the nomination, he’s won it with record numbers in the primaries.”

Throughout the primary, Romney, a former governor of Massachusetts and venture capitalist, repeatedly spoke out to criticize Trump and has even accused the billionaire of hiding a potential “bombshell” in his still-unreleased tax returns.

Trump has responded by calling Romney a “loser” and last week he said at a campaign rally that Romney walks “like a penguin.”
