Glenn Beck, the former Fox News firebrand and conservative radio host, has forayed into the world of fashion. His clothing line, 1791 Supply & Co, unrolled a denim line this week, featuring two styles of men’s jeans.
Beck tells Yeas & Nays that the he “was involved in every detail” of the line, “from the material of the pockets in the jeans, to the number of stitches, to the rivets we used.” At $129.99 a pop, the American-made pants are a tad pricey. “We recognize that these jeans are not cheap and won’t be the right price for everyone,” he said. “But I refused to release a product that I did not believe 100 percent in.”
Beck has no plans to hire a celebrity to be the face of the line (“for now, we are comfortable with the ‘face’ of 1791 being an idea that inspires Americans to dream big again”) and is focused on putting out a line of women’s jeans next. Don’t expect to see any skinny jeans in the lineup.
“Don’t get me started New York City-style skinny jeans,” he said. “There’s a reason I moved to Texas.”
