Pennsylvania scraps Obamacare exchange after Court ruling

Pennsylvania will no longer pursue its own state-run health exchange after the Supreme Court upheld the decision to grant subsidies for people in that the state and 33 others that use the federal Obamacare exchange.

Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf said Thursday that he no longer plans to set up a state-based exchange for the state. He had planned to do so if the Supreme Court ruled against the White House in the landmark case King vs. Burwell.

On Thursday, the court ruled 6-3 upholding the subsidies to all states, regardless of whether they set up an exchange.

Like 36 other states, Pennsylvania residents use healthcare.gov to sign up for Obamacare.

It remains unclear whether Delaware, another state that pursued an exchange as a backup to the court ruling, will move forward with its plans.
