Dave Brat: ‘The women are in my grill’ over Obamacare

Rep. Dave Brat, R-Va., is worried about women infringing on his personal space to register their disapproval of the Republican Congress’ planned Obamacare repeal.

In the last several days, the congressman has complained at least twice about about women being “in my grill” or “up in my grill.”

“Since Obamacare and these issues have come up, the women are in my grill no matter where I go,” he told a conservative gathering on Saturday.

“They come up [and ask] ‘When is your next town hall?’ And believe me it’s not to give positive input.”

In an interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch Monday, Brat complained that “I had one woman on my Facebook say she was going to get up in my grill.”

In addition to the women, he warned about the “paid activists of the far left” and distinguished them from “my Democratic friends I go to church with.”

Brat has asked conservative activists to get his back by writing articles and showing other signs of support.

“We need activists coming out on everything,” and right now, he implored them.

They won’t be coming out to a townhall meeting in the near future, however.

On Facebook, Brat wrote that he “fully intend[s] to have plenty of town halls that are open and transparent.”

However, those will have to wait until “our first 100 day agenda is implemented and we come up for a breath of fresh air.”

Brat may be stage shy because of what happened to his predecessor in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District when a public meeting went badly.

Eric Cantor was at the time the majority leader of the House of Representatives. He lost a Tea Party primary challenge mounted by Brat after yelling at a bunch of Tea Partyers at a meeting only a month earlier.

Cantor lost his temper because they had, well, grilled him publicly.
