Lifetime shops D.C. reality show to The CW

A new ‘Mafia’ home?

If you were looking to catch “Blonde Charity Mafia” — the D.C. based reality show featuring local society girls Katherine Kennedy, Krista Johnson and Sophie Pyle — in November, you were disappointed: The show’s debut was pushed into 2009.

And if you were looking to catch the show, which wrapped up filming in D.C. in October, on its original channel — Lifetime TV — you’ll also be disappointed. Yeas & Nays hears that Lifetime is in final negotiations with The CW to hand off rights to the program, and an announcement is expected within days.

“Blonde Charity Mafia” was originally slated to air immediately after Lifetime’s popular show “Project Runway.” But the network has been in a legal battle with Bravo TV over “Runway’s” airing and the future is unclear, potentially leaving “Mafia” without a popular lead-in during a crucial period when all eyes will be focused on Washington, thanks to Barack Obama’s inauguration.
