WATCH: Iowa Dems debate fresh faces over experience

DES MOINES, Iowa — It was nearly eight years ago that a young senator’s surprise Iowa caucus win saw the unraveling of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential ambitions. Careful not to make the same mistakes that cost her the Democratic nomination to Barack Obama, Clinton is turning to her resume and foreign policy experience to make her closing case to Iowa Democrats.

For caucus-goers, many are torn between supporting a fresh face or a candidate with the experience and know-how on the world stage. Drake Univerity student Kaylin Nutlidge went into Monday’s CNN town hall inclined to support former Gov. Martin O’Malley, D-Md., but told the Washington Examiner afterward that she felt Clinton was the only one talking about foreign policy and is now likely to support the former secretary of state.

Still, challenges remain for Clinton in Iowa as other voters express confidence in her ability to lead but struggle to trust her. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is not immune to skepticism from voters either, with some viewing his willingness to identify as a Democratic socialist as a liability.

Watch what Iowa voters feel about the Democratic field as many remain truly undecided and want to hear all the candidates make their final pitch in the final days to the Iowa caucus.
