Sen. Scott Brown has apparently been very busy. In a radio interview Thursday morning, the Massachusetts senator revealed that he has participated in “secret meetings” with foreign kings and queens throughout his term.
While defending his campaign on the charge that it lacked substance, Brown said he engages on substantive issues daily, sometimes with royalty. “Each and every day that I’ve been a United States senator, I’ve been discussing issues, meeting on issues, in secret meetings with kings and queens and prime ministers and business leaders and military leaders, talking, voting, working on issues every single day,” he said.
A Brown spokesperson told the Boston Globe by email that “Senator Brown was speaking generally about private meetings he has had with foreign and domestic leaders.” The Globe notes that the spokesperson did not say how often Brown chats with crowned heads of state, nor if he has actually met with royalty.
