For the second time since 2009, President Obama has been chosen to deliver the keynote address at the annual Human Rights Campaign National Dinner, the LGBT group announced Wednesday.
“We are honored to share this night with President Obama who has a tremendous record of accomplishment for LGBT people,” said outgoing HRC President Joe Solmonese. “On the heels of the end to ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ we look forward to celebrating our victories and redoubling our efforts for the fights that remain ahead.”
An estimated 3,000 people are expected to attend the event which is the single largest fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign, which will be held this Saturday night at the Convention Center in downtown D.C. In recent years the event has attracted pop star Lady Gaga, cast members from the hit show “Glee,” and a newly out-of-the-closet Ricky Martin.
