Texas Gov. Rick Perry will be the keynote speaker at the American Principles Project’s 3rd Annual Red, White and Blue Gala on Feb. 5 in Washington, D.C.
“The gala will celebrate America’s founding principles and outline the political landscape for 2016,” according to a press release announcing the Republican’s speech at the Mayflower Hotel in downtown D.C.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul was the gala’s keynote speaker in 2014.
Perry is currently in eighth place among 11 potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, nearly eight percentage points behind the leader, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.
Perry is currently fighting felony charges for abuse of power and coercion of a public servant in Texas. Senior District Judge Bert Richardson refused to throw out the felony charges against Perry in mid-November, after arguments from Perry’s lawyers.
