President Obama on Saturday went golfing near Las Vegas with Major League Baseball legend Derek Jeter, who recently retired after 20 years playing for the New York Yankees.
According to reports posted on Twitter by multiple White House correspondents, Obama was playing the links at the “exclusive” Shadow Creek Golf Club in North Las Vegas, Nev. In addition to golfing with Jeter, Obama’s playing partners included Brian Greenspun, editor and publisher of the Las Vegas Sun newspaper who was a major backer of Hillary Clinton when she ran for president in 2008, and wealthy Democratic donor Stephen Cloobeck.
Steve Holland, a White House correspondent for Reuters, tweeted the following around 2 p.m. ET on Saturday: “Obama’s golf partners at exclusive Shadow Creek Golf Club in North Las Vegas: Derek Jeter, Stephen Cloobeck and Brian Greenspun”.
Obama was in Las Vegas on Friday to campaign for support for his executive order to legalize 4.1 million illegal immigrants whose children are either U.S. citizens or legal residents. The president was scheduled to remain in Las Vegas over the weekend, and does not have any public events scheduled.
