Lawmaker vapes in House while defending vaping

Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., used a vaporizer while speaking during a congressional committee meeting Thursday, to make his point on why he was opposing a House amendment to cut down on the practice.

The moment occurred during a meeting of the House Transportation Committee, during discussion or banning using vaporizers on commercial flights.

“So, this is called a vaporizer,” Hunter said, while vaping, to audience laughter.

“This is the future,” Hunter said. “Smoking is going away … For freedom’s sake … I would urge my colleagues to oppose this amendment.”

“There’s nothing noxious about this whatsoever. This has been helped thousands of people quit smoking. It’s helped me quit smoking,” Hunter said. “Smoking’s going away.”

“In the next decade or so, you’re going to be able to inhale Ibuprofen, you’re going to be able inhale your Prozac,” Hunter said.
