Trump promises to fight New Hampshire’s drug epidemic — by building a wall in Arizona

In a video posted on Facebook Saturday, Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump promised to fight New Hampshire’s ballooning rate of heroin overdoses by building a wall on the country’s southern border.

New Hampshire has a tremendous drug epidemic,” he says in the video. “Every time I go there, people come up to me and they say ‘Mr. Trump, what are we gonna do? Drugs are pouring in.'”

“I’m going to create borders, no drugs are coming in,” Trump says. “We’re going to build a wall. You know what I’m talking about, you have confidence in me. Believe me, I will solve the problem. They will stop coming to New Hampshire, they will stop coming to our country.”

Trump’s opponent, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has made a similar argument tying border security to the heroin epidemic, and has suggesting immigration reformer advocates bear blame for the drug issue.

Trump also promises to help those suffering from drug addiction.

“And the people that are in trouble, the people that are addicted — we’re going to work with them and try to make them better, and we will make them better,” he concludes.

The New Hampshire drug epidemic must stop. If elected POTUS — I will create borders and the drugs will stop pouring in. We will #MakeAmericaGreatAgain!Posted by Donald J. Trump on Saturday, February 6, 2016

At the end of 2015, Manchester’s police department said there were 75 heroin overdose deaths.

Trump is currently third in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings. Cruz is first.
