Long-time Washingtonian editor Jack Limpert to step down

Jack Limpert is leaving Washingtonian magazine, the publication he edited for 43 years. After handing over the reigns to Garrett Graff in 2009, Limpert stayed on as editor at large, keeping an office and line-editing every story of each issue. Now 78, he cleared out his office Monday, taking his typewriter with him.

Limpert, who was responsible for developing Washingtonian’s mix of service and feature stories, will remain a writer-at-large at the mag. The annual best local doctors guide, a Limpert idea and still Washingtonian’s best-selling issue, isn’t going anywhere either.
