A progressive political action committee may be pro-Elizabeth Warren, but it is now taking a different approach.
The Progressive Change Campaign Committee has launched a new petition website called ReadyForBoldness.com. Clearly a play on the “Ready For Hillary” super PAC name, it has numerous signatures pushing for the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee — likely former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — to “campaign on big, bold, economic-populist ideas.”
The ideas, according to PCCC, include “establishing a national goal of debt-free college at all public colleges and universities, expanding Social Security benefits instead of cutting them, creating millions of clean-energy jobs, reducing big-money influence in politics, breaking up the ‘too big to fail’ Wall Street banks that crashed our economy, and ensuring that working families share in the economic growth they help create.”
Over 200 Iowa and New Hampshire leaders signed the PCCC’s statement, they announced.
The most important signatory? Tom Harkin — though he has retired from the Senate, his influence in Iowa Democratic circles remains strong. Former Rep. Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire has also signed it.
The PCCC, founded in 2009, now claims to have nearly one million members.
