In combatting terrorism in the Middle East, Sen. Kelly Ayotte focused on the importance of words.
“It very much matters [what America calls its enemies] because you have to define your enemy,” the New Hampshire Republican said on “Fox News Sunday,” specifically referring to the use of terms such as “radical Islam” or “Islamic terrorism.”
Ayotte last week expressed outrage over the White House not calling the Afghan Taliban a “terrorist” organization.
The Obama administration should “spend less time about being worrying about being politically correct … and more time on a strategy on how to defeat them,” Ayotte said on “Fox News Sunday.”
America has to “say who it is we’re actually fighting” because other countries also fighting terrorism are “expecting American leadership in terms of bringing us together,” Ayotte added.
Ayotte sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee and has been increasingly critical of the White House’s approach to terrorism and the Middle East.
