By the Numbers: Dems lead GOP in fundraising

$129 million: The amount raised this year by the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, as compared to their Republican counterparts, the Republican National Committee, the National Republican Congressional Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee — who raised a combined $105 million. This lead for the left echoes similar gains made by the Democrats in July, when these same three committees raised a million more dollars than their GOP colleagues, despite President Obama having to cancel numerous fundraisers in the midst of the debt ceiling negotiations.

Obama has been the most prolific fundraising president on record, according to new reports from USA Today. So far in his first term, the president has headlined 127 fundraising events, far more than our previous five presidents – including President George W. Bush, who held 88 fundraisers in his first term, and President Bill Clinton, who headlined 76 events.
