Who’s your daddy?: Forthcoming tell-all by Edwards aide reignites media frenzy

Sure, a recent “Saturday Night Live” skit suggested the mainstream media’s frenzies surrounding the affairs of former Sen. John Edwards, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford and Nevada Sen. John Ensign were dead and over, (while the frenzy about Tiger Woods’ affair was going on and on), but that’s not exactly accurate.

New excitement about Edwards’ illicit affair with Rielle Hunter is just beginning, thanks to a forthcoming memoir by Andrew Young. Young, Edwards’ longtime aide and friend, soon will release “The Politician: An Insider’s Account of John Edwards’s Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down” and reporters already are lining up for interviews.

Getting first dibs is new “Good Morning America” host George Stephanopoulos, who will conduct Young’s first live interview Feb. 2. Before that, ABC’s Bob Woodruff will question the former senator’s friend during a taped interview being aired on “20/20” Jan. 29, ABC News reported.

Of interest is Young’s public statement that he was the father of Hunter’s daughter. He then backtracked and said the real father was none other than Edwards. The book is expected to give details about the cover-up.

It makes its bookstore debut on Groundhog Day 2010.
