There might be fireworks going off on Nov. 22, when Sam Kass, White House senior policy advisor for healthy food initiatives, will help judge a televised culinary competition dedicated to school lunches on Food Network’s “Chopped.” That’s when four school cafeteria standouts will have a live battle using USDA ingredients provided to most school lunch programs — including canned tuna and dill pickles — but they’ll also cook with fresh veggies, quinoa and fresh fruit to create dishes for kids and prove the point that healthy food needn’t be boring or expensive.
