Harvard faculty donations favor Clinton

Harvard loves Hillary.

Of those who donated in the presidential race, 91 percent of Harvard University faculty, instructors and researchers gave to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Nine percent gave to Marco Rubio, Bernie Sanders, Chris Christie or Jeb Bush. Ted Cruz, a Harvard Law School graduate, and Donald Trump received no donations, according to research conducted by the Harvard Crimson.

Between April-December 2015, 81 Harvard faculty, instructors and researchers donated roughly $131,000 to the presidential campaign of former secretary of state Clinton.

Thirty-seven percent gave the maximum $2,700 legal contribution directly to Clinton’s official campaign. Jeb Bush came in second, beating Sanders, senator from nearby Vermont, at third. Bush received 4.1 percent of donations. Sanders received 2.5 percent.

The report supports arguments that Harvard is a power base for the Democratic establishment. The school’s faculty largely passed on most Republican candidates, but was also skeptical of anti-establishment Sanders on the left.
