Obama jokingly threatens gubernatorial run

President Obama used his final address to the country’s governors as they gathered for the annual meeting of the National Governors Association to jokingly threaten that he may run for governor post-presidency.

“This is my final governors’ dinner, at least least my final one as president,” Obama jested as he toasted governors who sat down for dinner at the White House Sunday evening.

“I’m just kidding. It’s a joke people. I wanted to see how Michelle would react,” he said, referring to first lady Michelle Obama’s well-known aversion to Obama pursuing electoral office after he leaves the White House.

I will give an “undisputedly qualified set of remarks,” he opened in his toast to the bipartisan gathering of state leaders. “I trust that you give them a fair hearing,” he joked, referring to the ongoing debate regarding whether the Senate will vote after he nominates someone to replace the-late Justice Antonin Scalia to the Supreme Court, as expected.
