Foley gets second chance with new secondhand store

What’s a scandal-ridden former congressman to do after his resignation more than three years ago?

Why, open up a consignment shop, of course.

Former Florida Rep. Mark Foley opened up Celebrity Consignment in West Palm Beach a little more than a month ago, according to local TV news station WPTV. Foley resigned in 2006 after it was discovered he sent inappropriate messages online to an underage male page.

“My name attracts attention. I’ll give it that,” Foley told WPTV.

The shop is filled with furnishings and decorations from Foley’s former D.C. home. He also is selling a document from one of Washington’s original architects.

Foley can’t escape his political past altogether, though. His store features many elephant statues and paintings in a nod to the GOP.

Foley also told WPTV that he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of running for office again.
