Billionaire Bill Gates was in town Wednesday to dedicate a $17 million learning center in honor of his mother Mary Gates at United Way Worldwide headquarters in Alexandria. Gates’ foundation donated $10 million for the center, which will have the latest technology and serve as a training facility for staffers and volunteers across the country. Gates’ mother was a big supporter and board member for the United Way.
