Florida man George Zimmerman posted $5,000 bond Saturday afternoon and was released following his arrest Friday evening, the latest in what is becoming a long string of run-ins with the police.
The charge brought against him at around 9:45 p.m. Friday night, aggravated assault with a weapon, counts as a third-degree felony.

Zimmerman allegedly threw a bottle of wine at his girlfriend a few days prior to his actual arrest, his supposed outburst being the reason he was picked up by the authorities.
No one was injured during the altercation between the Florida man and his girlfriend, Zimmerman’s lawyer, Don West, said during a court appearance Saturday morning.
The judge presiding over the case ordered Zimmerman to surrender any firearm in his possession by Tuesday, adding also that Zimmerman is prohibited from contacting his girlfriend or entering the county where she lives.
Zimmerman does not, however, have to wear a GPS tracking device.
“I certainly wish I wasn’t here this morning, as I’m sure he does too,” West said. “It’s been a devastating experience that he’s been through. Again, I’m not a psychologist. I don’t know how it’s manifesting itself. I’m concerned obviously, as we are here again this morning.”
West recommended counseling for Zimmerman.
This is the third time that Zimmerman has been taken in by the authorities since his arrest in 2012 for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, a tragedy that triggered nationwide protests and wall-to-wall media coverage.

After he was acquitted in July 2013 in the trial over Martin’s death, Zimmerman was arrested and charged with domestic violence, aggravated assault and battery and criminal mischief after he cocked and pointed a shotgun at his then-girlfriend. He reportedly lost his cool after she ordered him to move out of her home.
He later barricaded himself inside her house only to surrender to police a short while later.
Zimmerman is due back in court on Feb. 17.
