Someone in the Hillary Clinton campaign HQ is getting in trouble this afternoon.
Early Friday afternoon, Hillary for America Press sent an email to its entire supporter list detailing her interview about sexual assault in the online magazine Refinery29. Instead they sent their supporters a link to a video advertisement for Old Navy denim.
Upon clicking on a screenshot of Clinton’s face, her supporters were led to a video entitled “Happy Pants,” showing actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus acting as an obviously distressed European fashion designer at New York fashion week, yelling at her staff to “make the clothes tighter so she cannot breathe!” But then, when she sees her models wearing Old Navy, she immediately abandons her show to shop for the discounted denim.
Twenty minutes later, the Clinton campaign sent out a correction with a link to the actual video, entitled “What Every 20-Something Should Know About Hillary Clinton,” showing the Democratic front-runner discussing issues such as sexual assault on college campuses, the gender wage gap and foreign policy.
Clinton has based her campaign on fighting for women’s rights, gender equality and the dignity of women in the workplace. While she is no fashion aficionado, she does enjoy an array of brightly colored designer pantsuits.
