Paul Sparks, who plays bootlegger Mickey Doyle in the HBO show “Boardwalk Empire,” will be in town Saturday night for a Batch 19 beer bar crawl and toast in honor of Repeal Day.
During an interview with Yeas & Nays on Thursday, Sparks told us the Batch 19 beer recipe was discovered a few years ago.
“Someone was cleaning their original brewery and found the log book that had the ingredients to a beer that was never made because of Prohibition,” he said.
This weekend, the brew will make its official debut when Sparks visits We The Pizza, Pour House and 18th Amendment.
Sparks, who confessed he is more of a bourbon drinker, for the most part assures us, “I do partake in the beers as well.”
And, he’s very curious to see what this brew will taste like.
“I don’t think they were kidding around when they made beers back then so it will be interesting,” he said.
Let’s just hope it’s not Four Loko interesting.
