Bristol Palin’s been doling out interviews left and right since ABC announced the teen mom would join the cast of “Dancing with the Stars,” but there were no cameras or reporters to record what she had to say to those attending a fundraiser Wednesday for the Lifehouse Maternity Center in Louisville, Ky.
Media weren’t allowed to enter the event, but Lifehouse’s founder and executive director Joan Smith told Yeas & Nays that Palin’s speech resonated with the audience.
“She spoke from her heart about what she went through as being a single pregnant teen,” Smith said.
Lifehouse is a Christian, pro-life home that houses women coping with unexpected pregnancies and provides them with medical care. While the press wasn’t invited, the organization did open the event to the general public and about 250 people bought tickets. Palin also visited the maternity home during her stay in Louisville.
“She was just right at ease there, she’s very articulate, she’s a very strong woman,” Smith said. “I’d be proud to call her my daughter.”
Palin was paid $14,000 to speak at the fundraiser.
