MIKE MEISTER

Nebraska Democrats, whose gubernatorial nominee dropped out after allegations surfaced that he had been falsifying his campaign finances, have another candidate to challenge popular Republican Gov. Dave Heineman. Meister, a Scottsbluff trial lawyer, said he plans to challenge the popular Republican governor in the November general election. Nebraska Democratic Party Chairman Vic Covalt says the 49-year-old Meister “has the party’s full support.” The Nebraska attorney general’s office is conducting a criminal investigation into the falsified campaign cash claims.
