In the moments following Ted Cruz’s romp to victory at the Colorado GOP convention, the state party’s Twitter account posted an anti-Donald Trump message, a move sure to rile Trump backers who think the Republican Party is plotting to prevent his nomination.
A few minutes after 10 p.m., the Colorado Republican Party’s Twitter account posted “We did it. #NeverTrump.”

The tweet was quickly deleted. A follow up apologized for the tweet.
“The last tweet was the result of unauthorized access to our account and in no way represents the opinion of the party,” it read. “We are investigating.”
Cruz won all the delegates from Colorado Saturday night in a convention that many observers called an example of the Texas senator’s superior organization over Trump’s campaign.
Colorado decides how delegates get sent to the GOP’s national convention through an election for delegates from each congressional district in the state at the convention, in lieu of a statewide primary or caucus.
Cruz was the only presidential candidate to go to the convention. Many Colorado Republicans felt Trump gave up on the state.
