Ryan wouldn’t run against Romney

If Mitt Romney runs for president in 2016, don’t expect to see his former running mate join the race.

Republican Rep. Paul Ryan expressed his support for Romney, saying it would trump his own potential interest in a White House run.

“I wouldn’t if he were. I would support Mitt. If he were to run, I would not,” Ryan said Tuesday in an interview with HuffPost Live. “But I don’t even know if I’m going to either myself. That’s something I’m going to decide in 2015.”

Ryan also pushed that the country should “take Mitt at his word” that he is not planning another campaign just yet.

Though a lot of fellow Republicans — including Ryan — believe the 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate would be a legitimate one once again and would like to see him run in 2016, “I think he’s pretty clear that it’s definitely not his intention. He’s not trying to start this buzz, he’s not trying to mount another comeback,” Ryan said.
