There must be something in the water. (No, not oil.)
A slew of environmentally friendly big names headed to the District this week to promote eco-awareness. “Iron Man 2” actor Don Cheadle appeared alongside Jane Goodall at an event on Capitol Hill Thursday.
“I was going to prepare a speech, I had some things to say, but I decided to speak extemporaneously — also known as I feel asleep last night watching the Laker’s game, which they won by the way,” the actor joked, before going into his Earth-saving spiel.
After that, Goodall hightailed it to the St. Gregory Hotel so she could appear alongside musician Dave Matthews at a press conference. Matthews and longtime collaborator Tim Reynolds played a benefit concert in Goodall’s honor Thursday night.
And on the topic of concerts, the band Blues Traveler was in town Wednesday night playing a show in support of the Florida Everglades. “Cheers to the Everglades,” frontman John Popper repeatedly said holding up a red Solo cup of what appeared to be water.
