Washington Life released its “100 Most Invited” list this week, and to no one’s surprise, the president and first lady topped it, but it wasn’t without a little scolding.
The article’s author, Kevin Chaffee, notes that the Obamas prefer discrete dinners with Chicago friends and quick trips out to eat with foreign leaders over attending big Washington social events.
“Maybe a crasher-free state dinner triumph will get the ball rolling,” the mag suggests.
Besides the Obamas, here’s a sampling of others who got a slap on the wrist.
8 – David & Susan Axelrod: “Obama’s most senior political [adviser] does dominate a room. ‘Tis a pity he’s seldom seen outside the White House,” Chaffee writes.
25 – Bill & Hillary Clinton: “He’s hardly here,” the magazine says about the former president.
34 – Jon Favreau: “Hardly a regular on the party circuit, you might catch him having a brewski with friends near his Dupont Circle condo,” the glossy says. (Or, as Yeas & Nays previously wrote, shirtless in Georgetown.)
