CLEVELAND – An Illinois lawmaker argued that the public isn’t concerned with whether or not their elected officials are attending a political convention.
“I don’t think the public is actually focused on who is attending political conventions or not,” Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Ill., told the Washington Examiner.
Roskam also defended his colleague Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., who is locked in a tough re-election bid and has chosen not to attend the GOP convention.
Roskam acknowledges the desire to keep the Senate Republican is keeping some lawmakers from the convention.
