Glamour magazine’s December issue named the glossy’s 2011 Women of the Year, giving kudos to leading ladies like former first lady Laura Bush and her daughters Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and editor-in-chief of the AOL Huffington Post Media Group Arianna Huffington. Women’s liberation movement founder Gloria Steinem was selected as the Lifetime Achievement winner, telling readers if there’s any advice she can offer, it’s “One, trust your own voice. Two, do what you love. And three, have a group, maybe five or 12 people, who share your values, who make you feel smart — and get together with them at least once a month.”
The ladies will be honored at a gala Monday night at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
