Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald for months now has been encouraging veterans and VA employees to call his direct cell number if they have a complaint.
“I hope you gave him my cell phone number or my email address, because I’d like to get in touch with him,” McDonald said recently on Fox News in response to the plight of a veteran. The information McDonald gave out is the number 513-509-8454 and [email protected]“>[email protected].

But when Fox anchors tried to call McDonald on Thursday, McDonald was unreachable. Fox News host Steve Doocy made the call, and it quickly went to voicemail.
Even worse, Doocy was unable to leave a message because its mailbox was full.
“Are you kidding me? Is there a more perfect and poignant example of the VA?” asked Pete Hegseth of Concerned Veterans for America.
The VA has come under almost constant criticism for more than a year, after it was revealed that the agency was systematically delaying veterans access to healthcare, but making it appear as if there were no delays. The VA has failed to fire anyone for the healthcare scandal yet, and instead has continued paying millions in bonuses to its workers.
The VA has also been accused of blowing hundreds of millions of dollars on construction projects, and giving its senior employees cushy moving allowances in the tens of thousands of dollars.
