New Cruz ad attacks Obama’s policy toward Iran

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz will begin airing a new television ad in Iowa on Friday that criticizes the Obama administration’s relationship with Iran.

The ad begins with a clip of Iran capturing ten American sailors kneeling in submission.

“Ten American sailors, captured by Iran and humiliated on video,” an announcer says. “When our sailors were released, the White House said thank you — to Iran. President Obama, how about our troops?”

The 30-second spot then cuts to video of Cruz at a GOP presidential debate.

“If I’m elected president, no serviceman or servicewoman will be forced to be on their knees, and any nation that captures our fighting men and women will feel the full force and fury of the United States of America,” Cruz is shown saying. “I will have your back.”

The ad, titled “Have Your Back,” adopts a soundtrack befitting an epic film and likely reminds Iowans of the Obama administration’s Iranian nuclear agreement, which is unpopular with conservative voters and lawmakers alike. With under two weeks remaining until the Iowa caucus, Cruz ranks first in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings.
