PETA uses virus to promote vegetarianism

We’ve all heard of “pork” on Capitol Hill, but a real-life pig farm? That’s the goal of PETA, which is attempting to exploit the swine flu outbreak in its latest stunt to spread the message of treating animals humanely.

The organization submitted an application to the Capitol Police last week to set up a pig farm exhibit on the steps of the Capitol.

They had hoped to bring 3,500 one-gallon buckets of pig manure and urine as part of their display, representative of the waste a farm produces annually. They also sought to bring large fans to blow the odors of the manure and urine throughout the plaza.

And as Yeas & Nays learned Monday, apparently a lack of pig’s waste makes the display a waste of PETA’s time. PETA informed us that the Capitol Police did agree to the rest of their farm — undercover videos they shot at a factory pig farm and three fake pigs in metal crates to illustrate the pigs’ confinement — but poo-poo’d the pig poop.

David Perle of PETA Washington D.C., said he doesn’t believe they will do the remaining planned parts of the display, explaining, “We are more willing to go ahead with it if we could do the feces. It was the pretty much the main part.”

After all, Capitol Hill is full of crap already.
