McDonald’s wants you to… vote? Connie Schultz, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, and wife of Ohio senator Sherrod Brown pined for a simpler time earlier today, when her husband was secretary of state and Ohio McDonald’s restaurants had voter registration forms on their table tray liners. In my political past, I registered a few thousand voters, and depending on the state, there’s no standard form. But, as a practical matter, making voting registration forms out of a greasy tray liner is a bad idea. Not only will it get smudged in the mail, but might be unreadable by the time it’s meant to be read by the registrar.
Update: Connie Schultz responds:
No, @JSwiftTWS, I wasn’t pining for “simpler time” in sharing pic of voter registration form once embedded in McD tray liners. My point: @SenSherrodBrown, as OH SOS, saw his job to be making it as easy as possible for ALL residents to vote. That I miss. https://t.co/7qhlb8zjNi

And… salute! President Trump’s birthday morning was ruined by footage of him saluting (seriously) a North Korean general. Townhall’s Kurt Schlichter had a terrible take, saying, to a critic who asked how he’d react if Obama did the same thing: “I’d be horrified if Obama did it. Obama was an anti-American schmuck with a track record of giving money to dictators. Trump is on America’s side. See, different people different opinions.”
Sure, Kurt. But you know who is an anti-American schmuck? The guy Trump saluted. Bad form. Kim Jong-un doesn’t even routinely salute his generals. Trumpism corrupts.
Check out the boss on Special Report. Our editor in chief Steve Hayes was on Fox News yesterday to talk about the nuclear summit to discuss the president’s contention that North Korea was no longer a nuclear threat.
The US/NORK movie trailer, redone. The New York Times recut the bizarre video that the Trump administration used to wow North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. And it’s pretty hilarious.
The economy is doing great on paper… but are you still looking for a job? If so, the White House might have a job for you! Perhaps EPA Administrator?
The Clinton Foundation was corrupt as heck, but now… we’re learning about the Trump Foundation. And it also seems pretty damn corrupt.
Go inside the converted Walmart that houses immigrant kids. There has been a lot of hyperbole and hot takes from both the left and the right on the status of immigrant children separated from parents who are illegally in the United States. The Washington Post gives a fair look and perspective into the facility that burned up the internet Wednesday night.
Give microphones to everyone. On recent podcasts (JVL did how many this week? Five?), Jonathan V. Last, our digital editor, mentioned how much he hates parades. But he does love microphones on coaches and players. So, for his honor, do enjoy this mic’d up video of the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals.
The president’s most loyal money man, continued. We have previously filled you in on President Trump’s most dedicated teen follower, Jacob Wohl. The “fame seeking lad” is under scrutiny yet again for the practices of his hedge fund, and boy, is he living his best life. Imagine peaking before you’re old enough to drink!
