Top Pentagon personnel official resigns

Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Jessica Wright is leaving her post to “spend time with her family and enjoy her retirement,” the Pentagon said Thursday in a statement.

Wright, former adjutant general of the Pennsylvania National Guard, took over the job of the Pentagon’s top personnel officer on Jan. 1, 2013.

“I want to thank our undersecretary for Personnel and Readiness, Jes Wright,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said in a statement. “Thank you, Jes, for your service to this country, and the many, many long and distinguished years that you have given to our nation.”
