Richie Incognito, centerpiece of the NFL’s ‘Bullygate’ scandal, tweeted Saturday that he was headed to the Donald Trump rally in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
“On my way to the @realDonaldTrump rally,” the Buffalo Bills guard tweeted from nearby Scottsdale, Arizona. “Let’s make America great again!!!”
Incognito joins the eclectic list of Trump fans among professional athletes.
That list includes golfer John Daly, former Major League baseball all-start Johnny Damon, former heavyweight champ Mike Tyson, former Chicago Bears tight end and coach Mike Ditka and flamboyant former National Basketball League player and North Korea fan Dennis Rodman.
Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader, Pete Rose gave Trump a baseall with a supportive note on it. Rose later denied supporting Trump. Trump has called for ending Rose lifetime ban from baseball’s Hall of Fame, imposed due to Rose gambling on games.
An hour before the Republican presidential front-runner’s rally, several roads were blocked by protestors. Infamous Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who critics accuse of persecuting Hispanic immigrants, is scheduled to speak at the Trump event.
