Perry campaigns for Brownback

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will join Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback next week on the campaign trail, lending a hand to one of the most troubled Republican governors.

The two longtime friends will be together in Wichita to fundraise for Brownback’s reelection campaign, according to The Wichita Eagle.

“Part of the Brownback campaign is to get his voters: A) to donate money, but B) also to get them motivated, and Perry can help do that,” Bob Beatty, a political science professor at Washburn University in Topeka, said.

Brownback is down by approximately four points to Democratic challenger Paul Davis according to RealClearPolitics, a surprise for a conservative in a deeply red state.

Perry recently said he is “prepared” for another presidential run at the 2016 GOP ticket after studying up on policy and business. A RealClearPolitics average of polls still has Perry coming in sixth among potential presidential candidates.
