Liles juggles Obama fundraiser and child’s birth

Hip-hop mogul Kevin Liles was spread thin during a Monday-night fundraiser for President Obama, hosted by former Treasury Secretary Roger Altman – where tickets were going for as much as $71,600 per couple. Liles attended a swanky dinner at Jane Hartley and hedge-fund manager Ralph Schlosstein‘s penthouse on Park Avenue (where tickets were going for as much as $71,600), spending time with other guests including Jon Bon Jovi and PR. magnate Michael Kempner — but the timing couldn’t have been worse. He was dashing from the event to Lenox Hospital between 6:30 and 9 p.m. to be there for his wife Erica, who was in labor. She gave birth to their daughter, Genevieve, early Tuesday morning.

When he told Obama that he’d stayed as long as he could, Liles said the president was gracious about his four mad dashes between the fundraiser and the hospital. “[Obama] told me to go,” he said. “I said I have stayed as long as I can, and he said, ‘You have served your country.'”
