It wasn’t a red carpet, but a few same-sex couples tying the knot Tuesday morning strutted down the aisle making some pretty bold fashion statements.
Newlywed Angel Young teetered past flashing cameras in steel-heeled purple platform stilettos and a cream lace-and-polyester dress. It seemed like the blushing bride took her first name a bit too literally, wearing both feathers and a halo-like decoration in her up-do. Young’s wife, Sinjoyla “Tina” Townsend, opted for comfort over glamour, pairing brown tennis shoes with an off-white zoot suit-inspired getup.
Others chose a more subdued look: Newly married couple Reggie Stanley and Rocky Galloway stayed traditional in black and gray pinstriped suits, while partners Darlene Garner and Candy Holmes were yawn-inducing in basic black and white.
As far as the pols go, D.C. City Councilman David Catania looked dashing in a red power tie, while Councilman Jim Graham rocked a sunny yellow bow tie.
