Cape Cod residents, and specifically those residing in Martha’s Vineyard, are preparing for another first family visit this year in August.
President Obama and his family have traveled to the Vineyard every summer but one of his presidency — 2012, in the last months before his re-election — and will likely return for two weeks of vacation again this August.
The White House began making reservations months ago to accommodate the president’s large entourage of family, friends and Secret Service agents and officers, according to reports this week in the Martha’s Vineyard Times and the Cape Cod Times.
The White House has yet to confirm the first family’s vacation plans but last week, during a Air National Guard presentation, Col. James LeFavor said the president would be flying into Joint Base Cape Cod again this summer, according to the Cape Cod Times.
Last year, the Obamas decamped to a 8,100-square foot house on a 10-acre lot featuring 17 rooms in total, “expansive water views of the Vineyard sound, and infinity pool and hot tub, and a dual tennis-basketball court,” the MV Times reported.
The private home with its extensive property is assessed at $12 million and is owned by Joanne Hubschman, the paper said.
