Catfights, cheap fashion expected at this year’s District Sample Sale

Ladies, get your claws and checkbooks ready — and be prepared to scuffle with Maureen Dowd over a chic pair of trousers.

The spring District Sample Sale, benefiting the charity CityDance Early Arts, is set for March 16. It usually attracts big-name buyers like Dowd, comedian Ali Wentworth and model Hilary Rhoda. But beware: In years past, ladies seeking cheap items from area boutiques have gotten feisty.

“I’ve been elbowed. … I can say with all honesty that it’s inevitable you’ll be elbowed,” said Liberty Jones of Neiman Marcus, co-founder and brainchild of the sale.

The charity event will showcase items from 24 boutiques, this time including stores from Baltimore, Annapolis and maybe even Middleburg, Va.

All but one of the rumored cast members of the “Real Housewives of D.C.” are expected to attend (no Michaele Salahi, we hear).

Mary Amons, also a co-founder and a rumored cast member of “Real Housewives of D.C.,” said she plans to do some serious shopping. “I’m definitely needing some dresses for some upcoming activities I’m going to be involved in,” she said.
